I received this in a Christmas card and wanted to share it. I didn't know the song"The Twelve Days of Christmas" are the twelve days between Christmas Day and the Epiphany, Jan 6., the day Christians celebrate the arrival of the Magi and the revelation of Christ as the light of the world. It dates from a time of religious persecution. The song was written as a kind of secret catechism that you could sing in public without fear of arrest. It could be taken at two levels of interpretation-the surface meaning, or the hidden meaning known only to the Christians involved. Each element is a code word for a religious truth.
1. The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus.
2. The two turtledoves are the Old and New Testaments.
3. Three french hens stand for faith, hope, and love.
4. The four calling birds are the four Gospels.
5. The five gold rings recall the Hebrew Torah.
6. The six geese a-laying stand for the six days of creation.
7. The seven swans a-swimming represent the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.
8. The eight maids a-milking are the eight Beatitudes.
9. Nine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit.
10. The ten lords a-leaping are the Ten Commandments.
11. Eleven pipers piping represent the eleven faithful Apostles.
12 Twelve drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of doctrine in the Apostles Creed.
The "true love" in the song refers to God Himself, and the "me" receiving the gifts is every Christian. So that silly song we sing at Christmas has more meaning than we thought. Have a wonderful Christmas and elebrate the reason for the season!

Laugh of the Day
Well since my blog title is about laughter I thought I'd share my first funny adventure. Yesterday my daughter and I had a full day planned of fun. Our first stop was to mail my last Christmas package to my family. After that we headed to Goodwill to drop off some things. Since we were only going to be there for a brief moment I left my purse and keys in the car. Big Mistake!!! I have an SUV that has an automatic lock in the back. If the least little thing touches it, it locks. Well you guessed it while getting the boxes out one must have hit it and bingo ALL DOORS LOCKED! When we went to get in the car we couldn't. Now like I said my purse was in the car with my phone that has all my phone numbers in it. We thought maybe we'd walk home. My daughter vetoed that idea real quick. I went in the store and used their phone (boy were they protective with it... we couldn't go behind the counter so she had to dial the number in between waiting on customers who were all writing checks.) First call was to my husband (answering machine), next to 3 friends (all out Christmas shopping), police (they no longer offer that service), and finally AAA. After giving all my info. to them I was told they would be there in 30-45 minutes. Well believe it or not they were there in 15 minutes. (Boy, with the right tool it's so easy to break in to a car!!!) Our day was not lost. We ended up getting all our errands done and spending time together. We even had a big laugh to share at dinner with dear ole dad! Lesson learned...ALWAYS TAKE YOUR KEYS AND PURSE WITH YOU!
