This year my family decided to have a different type of holiday celebration. We or rather I, with the help from my oldest daughter planned a 7 day Caribbean cruise. It was amazing!!!!!!! I won't bore everyone with all the details, but I will give you the condensed version....
Saturday- Arrived in Orlando. We went to eat sushi and then to the "designer" outlet mall.
Sunday- Drove to Ft. Lauderdale to get on the Holland America Westerdam ship. We decided to have the late dinner so we could stay longer at our ports of call. Our dinner partners were a wonderful couple from England and their 11 year old son. We had a lot in common with them and really enjoyed their company!
Monday- A stop in Half-Moon Cay, Bahamas. This is an island the cruise-line owns. Glenn and Lindsay rode horses in the morning. Erin and I relaxed! We met in the afternoon for a bicycle ride around the island.
Tuesday- "A Day at Sea" was spent lounging at the pool in the 80+ degree weather!
Wednesday- Our second port of call was St.Thomas, BVI. We took a cab to Oceanworld where the girls were able to swim and play with sea lions. After that we were dropped off at the town to do some shopping. We attended Christmas Eve mass with our new English friends.
Thursday- Puerto Rico!!!!!! Erin and I went into the rain forest for a zipline canopy tour. It was awesome!!!! We definately got our exercise this day. After that we toured the city and shopped some. Glenn and Lindsay went to the old fort and also shopped.
Friday- Our last stop was Turks and Caicos. This was the BEST day.Allfour ofus went on a boat/snorkeltour. The boats were like jet-ski rafts. We wentinto the ocean and cruised around. Then we snorkeled at a reef. We did this for a few hours and then went back to the white sandy beach. It was beautiful.
Saturday- "A Day at Sea" More catching rays in the wonderful weather!
Sunday- Got off ship and went to see Rosemary in Cape Canaveral. We had dinner out and saw "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".
Monday- Went to the beach and Ron Jons.
Tuesday- Drove home!!!!
The girls opened a small gift on each day of the trip. The ship was decorated for Christmas and holiday music was playing. On Christmas night we went to a concert of chorals from the crew. The best part of the trip was the family-time. Glenn and I did not have to compete with "facebook", texting, or cellphone calls!!!! We were able to spend quality time with our beautiful daughters. That was priceless. I can't tell you when we were able to have a 2 1/2 hour dinner one night a month, let alone 7 nights!!! It is definately something we will do again.
My Wonderful Family!

Wow... just reading the condensed version sounds awesome!! And you are right about getting to have the long tine with E and L without competing for their attention with modern technology. What a great memory you have made.
